Honored by the City of Bucaramanga: A Shared Victory in the Fight Against Child Trafficking

The Children's International Rescue Foundation (CIRF) is deeply honored to announce that the City Council of Bucaramanga, Colombia has officially recognized our organization for its years of collaboration with local law enforcement in the fight against human trafficking and the exploitation of vulnerable children.

This recognition is far more than an award—it is a testament to what can be accomplished when dedicated police officers, international partners, and compassionate supporters unite around a common mission: protecting children.

Over the past several years, CIRF has worked side-by-side with specialized police units throughout Bucaramanga, conducting numerous operations targeting organized human trafficking networks that prey upon children. These collaborative efforts have resulted in significant arrests, successful prosecutions, the dismantling of criminal organizations, and, most importantly, the rescue of vulnerable children. Many of these children have been safely placed with trusted aftercare organizations, while others have been reunited with loving family members where possible.

Bucaramanga has faced extraordinary challenges in recent years. As neighboring Venezuela has experienced prolonged economic and political collapse, hundreds of thousands of refugees have crossed into Colombia seeking safety and opportunity. Tragically, criminal organizations have exploited this humanitarian crisis, targeting displaced and vulnerable children for trafficking, sexual exploitation, forced labor, and other forms of abuse.

Recognizing the growing threat, CIRF committed itself to supporting Colombian law enforcement through operational assistance, investigative expertise, specialized training, intelligence support, and collaborative field operations. Our operators have worked tirelessly alongside local police units to identify victims, dismantle trafficking organizations, and strengthen the city's ability to protect its most vulnerable citizens.

While this recognition bears CIRF's name, it truly belongs to the courageous Colombian officers who put themselves in harm's way every day to defend children from those who seek to exploit them. Their professionalism, determination, and unwavering commitment have made countless rescues possible, and we are humbled to stand beside them in this mission.

This honor also belongs to every member of the CIRF family—our supporters, partners, volunteers, and donors. Your generosity has made every mission possible.

Because of your support:

  • Criminal trafficking networks have been dismantled.

  • Dangerous offenders have been brought to justice.

  • Vulnerable children have been rescued from exploitation.

  • Families have been reunited.

  • Communities have become safer for the next generation.

Every donation represents more than financial support—it represents hope for a child who may otherwise have remained invisible to the world. We extend our sincere gratitude to the City Council of Bucaramanga for this distinguished recognition. We are honored by their trust and partnership, and we remain committed to standing alongside Colombian law enforcement in the ongoing fight against child exploitation and human trafficking.

While much work remains, this recognition reminds us that together, we are making a measurable difference. Together, we are protecting children.Together, we are bringing hope where it is needed most. And together, we will continue the fight until every child has the opportunity to live in safety and freedom.

From all of us at the Children's International Rescue Foundation—thank you. Your continued generosity makes this life-saving work possible.
